Smitten

Common may be handsome, common may
be nice -- but common, as a common spice,
the pallet becomes less excited. And thrice
no more appealing than twice. Think of
your love as special. Think of your love as sacred.
See me in your perfect prayers, and may God, think,
of me~ as your soulmate perfect.

A chef would know the strength of spice in food. One must be precise.

I see that this commoner should really think about spicing up his act... You have soup mail... Happy Wednesday, Joe. ~ gw

I just read and responded to your Soup Mail. And, again, that you, Gershon, for being so right-on outspoken. The nation needs more like. Blessings!

In appearance one may remain common, but at the core, if he is perfect, see him as uncommon. Common spices can't titillate our palate. But if something more is there, it will be invaluable. Very profound.

"Truth is beauty, and beauty truth," as Keats said. Something like that, as I recall. Many heroes are seen rather ordinary, in a crowd, by the crowd...for the crowd, in the most part, sees only their own surface reflections. Give me poor light, a microphone and couple drinks, and I am an entire orchestra:))

what a wonderful read...succinct but descriptive. I appreciate your use of the word 'common'....sometimes common is the most uncommon, if that makes sense Wishing you a pleasant evening, Sara

Makes perfect sense, and is in theme with the essence of my poem. One cannot just go by surface appearances -- one may be overlooking a rare treasure. There's a famous female opera singer I just love. I will not name her, for not wanting to offend anyone. Though I think she has long passed away. Anyway, she was a bit overweight. The instant she started singing, the brilliance of her voice, the depth of her feelings, she went from a size 20 to a 10, in my eyes, in a heartbeat.
