Smiles Are Like Sunshine
Making sure my building’s secure
from midnight until A.M. six
wears on this guard’s fidgety nerves
like eating breakfast with chopsticks.
On my walk home in dawn’s wet light
I greet my fellows with a smile.
Smiles return like open umbrellas
to shorten that last, lengthy mile.
Smiles are as welcome as breakfast
after a long, tedious night.
Smiles are like refreshing raindrops
filling steamy air with delight.
Kindness like a smile or a thumbs up
may be a lift-up to others on life's way.
Loving kindness adds the extra -
hopeful words like "Have a good day!"
Smiles, as healthy as a massage,
relax my tight gut from its cork.
At home, calm as a cucumber
I savor my breakfast à la fork.

I've always wanted to do a simile on the subject of smiles.
Another box checked off my bucket list
