Small Lies
They come easy on the tongue
They silence an inquisitive child
A scared daughter or a curious son
But they start to grow like nature in the wild
Small lies are easy to churn out
How many of them have been fed into phone lines?
But the lies eventually run out
When the pile up, collide and pin the truth like crossed lines
Lies about where you are at
Don’t know that you can’t be in two places at once
Lies about who you are with
Don’t know the world has a million eyes
Lies need more lies to hold up
Lies breed more lies till the fall apart
As the trustworthy become treacherous
Small lies age into empty promises
