The painting is called "The Instructor"
was painted by me in July of 2001
Oil painting is my passion
in a perfect setting, I do possess on occasion.
She's instructing the class
I'm inspired, I'm a lucky lass.
Brushes flow effortlessly,
“The Instructor”, I dub so grand and stately.
Everyone is enthusiastic when
the county fair comes around again.
Delicious food is consumed and down with ginger ale,
buying wares that are for sale.
I am admiring all the sorts of crafts and arts show,
animal exhibits and Rodeo,
music concert always packed and loud.
Parents attempt to keep track of their children in the crowd
running from side to side through the tides
to get in line for the carnival rides.
But, the art contest is the one I am excitedly searching for
as I walk through the door.
So many entries are on display.
I look anxiously for mine along the way.
So many I exam worthy of 1st place blue ribbon,
I'm really starting to get discouraged, but I didn't.
Ashamed I'm feeling
as I keep searching and dreaming.
Just around the corner
there on the bottom row and not a loner,
“The instructor”.
I see my painting on display against the stone structure.
There is a first place blue ribbon on its frame
to my silent excitement and small bit of fame!
My body calms with elated joy a smile on my face
I can't seem to erase.
I stand there and admire the name
and the big blue ribbon on the frame.
