Slip, Slide and Shovel

Slip, Slide and Shovel By Elton Camp Living way up north is sure no place for me Slick, heavy ice and snow I don’t wanna see Just how bad it feels, I’d rather not ever know When the temperature drops well below zero The air may be refreshing, clean and so fine But I’ll take southern air, if you don’t mind We are having unusual amounts of rain this year But of repeated snow accumulation we don’t fear There is certainly not any ideal place to live But North Alabama, lots of good marks I give So there’s lots to be said for a southern drawl And hearing folks all saying things like “Y’all.” Maybe folks born up in the north think it great But that part of the country, I’m sure I’d hate

My sentiments exactly...born and raised in the south and have no desire to live in the northern states. I've seen beautiful pictures of the snow..but just can't imagine how it would be. Shoot...we close the schools with a few slushey inches lol. Well thought out and enjoyable poem. Thanks for sharing !!

Hey Debra, I wrote this for relatives who moved here from Rochester, New York. Right by one of the lakes, they get multi-foot accumulations of snow. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. Elton
