Sleepless Nights

These long sleepless nights
Waiting to hear
That hot red dragon so near

No way to know
While you fight its fury
I lay here and worry

It devours acres by thousands
Leaving black charcoal embers
And vacant faces with no place to go
The dragon said so

Evacuated
The last word we spoke
Your home now filled with smoke
While you fight the dragon - is there hope?

These long sleepless nights
Waiting to hear
That hot red dragon so near

Today brought the call
I've waited days to hear
You're ok and gone is my fear

Thank God for His blessings....

I'm happy to hear your sister is okay. I've been watching the fire on TV. Scary! The metaphor certainly describes the situation in CO. Warm Smile, Connie

I wrote a poem with the same name as this! Wow, coincidence, no? Haha, I love the whole poem in general. Thanks so much, fan and friend of mine. I love your works and your personality shines like diamonds in a hidden cave. I'll rate this a 6 out of 7. Excellent work, Donna!

xD Discovering Gratification (the poem) helped me pass Science this year for the High School course (Integrated Sci. 2 - I didn't pass advanced bio last yr, which was unfortunate 'cause i love science so much). Thank the Lord your sister is safe and sound from the flames spewing out of the dragon's mouth. Your sister defeated the dragon!
