Sleep and Wake Intertwine

In vague soft sepia you appear to me...
Those timeless seconds
where sleep and wake intertwine.
A face I want to touch, recognize,
my fingers reach but cannot uncover
your warm radiance like the moon,
warmth like the sun.
In the hour after seeing you
I lament a loss I don't recall.
Arms around an infant, and a voice
that sings soothing songs, cradle...
Who are you?
Was there ever a stage in my life
that I knew you? That you sang this
song for me in a language near forgotten?
I wish I didn't dream about you anymore,
that you were a fastly fading Polaroid,
disappearing for ever without yearning
or longing.
