Sleep
The day that I died
he slept peacefully in his perfectly made bed.
Firstly, my frozen finger’s bones broke
With whom I baked beauteously
Then my dry eyes cracked like crackers
Getting ferociously mauve like a sunset,
Fourth of July.
My heart's pulse palpated with its last tick
Like a vintage clock on some subtle wall.
The last breath came out sighing like a cloud Hiding from the ablaze sun.
And I died, I died
While he slept peacefully in his perfectly made bed.
He slept on clouds,
He didn't hear me choking on tears,
He had his blanket of dreams covering his eyes,
The dreams of his happy life and wife
While I died, I died and I died.
I died in the name of love,
I died for his silly smile,
I died for his lazy laughter,
I died for his coffee dreams
No coffee for me,
I'd sleep in a coffin.
I sleep too.
