Sleep

“Sleep” Somnus, Somnus Those sweet words my mother sang to me It is a wonderful state to be How much I long for it How much I need It. Somnus, Somnus For I have been asleep far too long I have been dead in myself I have not seen the light or heard a song I have ignored Him Somnus, Somnus I cannot get peace from it Because I have not run to Peace Somnus, Somnus Now I have awakened I have seen the light, I have heard a song I have seen His Light, and heard His Song Somnus, Somnus I can now lay me head down a rest Because I have been given what’s best Somnus, Somnus Those sweet words my mother sang to me Now take on a new melody Wonderful Word of Life, Amazing Grace I will now run the race I have no friend in remonstrance Somnus, Somnus I lay my head down in good conscience
