Playing bowls, Sir Francis Drake
on Plymouth Hoe did ages take
for the game proved that much harder
than beating the Armada

Not knowin' what a clerihew is I'll give you top marks 'cos YOU probably do! I love the harder/Armada rhyme, or, come to think of it, there really isn't another rhyme for Armada is there? BRILL Viv!! Keith

Check out the Clerihew style and have a go, Keith- I'm pretty sure that you'd be good at it, and it pops up so infrequently. Regards, Viv

A good clerihew written with wit. In bowls he had to fend for himself, in battle he had others to fend for him! // paul

Cheers, Paul. This style reminds me of the classic- " And the Lord said unto Moses, all the Jews shall have crooked noses, except for Aaron- he shall have a square 'un. " Interesting form that makes a change. Regards, Viv
