Sins of the Seven Deadly Variety
Once feeling envy for your imposing life
Lusted after your confidence and your possessions.
The greed consumed me until the hunger
overtook my natural sloth-like tendencies, plunging me
further into my own gluttonous personal hell.
It’s your fault for evoking my wrath,
for your nothingness ruined my prideful ego.
*I wrote this poem on April 4, 2021, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ challenge. This was day 4 and the prompt was: Write a seven-line poem about one of the seven deadly sins that only contains seven words in each line. I further challenged myself to use all seven of the deadly sins, one in each line, and each of the sins is in different parts of each line (in the one-seven place but never the same number). Hope you enjoy it!
