Singing Ugly Bug Ball With Burl Ives
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! He said.
I looked around, my face quite red.
Who was talking? I looked around.
“Down here, Woman! I’m on the ground.”
This crazy looking brown beetle was talking to me?
I tried to find something else, but it was definitely he.
I am Burl Ives, he told me. And I’m looking for the ball.
I started to snicker now, but that is not all.
“The ugly bug ball?” I asked with delight.
He kicked my toe with a force that gave me a fright.
You pack a punch! I say, surprised beyond belief.
He hit me again, and I thought “Good grief!”
I know you know the song, he said. So sing it and I mean now.
I remembered about half the words, but I did not want another pow.
So I began to sing “The Ugly Bug Ball.”
It seemed to satisfy this bug so small.
We sang it together, and I let him move in.
We are very happy so it was a win.
