Simplicity-SK
Even the irrational, of a child,
running for cover, losing
board game, but especially
in his smile, hug, snowball-kisses.
The rolled-out dough,
cookie cutters,
little fingers sprinkling sugar.
Joyful stomping
of rainwater and mud,
dripping onto a sparkling floor.
Wiggly worms and dandelions
pulled from his short pocket.
The scuffed up pants
as he deliriously slides
into home base,
and the other way around,
as he zealously shouts,
“You’re out!”
Cleaned-up, tucked-in, fast asleep -
the simplicity of an angel.
