Simple Mutterings - the Nightingale

Oh, with great delight, from
out of the shadowy night, I hear
a loud, powerful melody drifting
    such a mournful song
                  with a chant soul-stirring
a songster with whistles that crescendo
trills, chirping, twittering and gurgles, concerto lovely
that sends my own soul on a journy into the depths of my mind, for
           beautiful memories
and faraway dreams yet to come . . .

Adore this, and we have no Nightingales here, sadly ... the Cardinals wake me each morn, and they have many songs as well. Sometimes a Mockingbird or Warbler or Meadowlark, but I'm fond of the Cardinals. This is a joyous celebration of music and nature, and I must fav! <3
