Stunning silver moon of lambent light I see,
each night you listen to my fervent plea...
You must wonder when will my sorrow end.
On your indulgent patience I've come to depend.
I watch as shadowed clouds veil your eyes,
as if you play hide and seek, wearing a disguise.
Often, I fall asleep, dreaming of flying to you,
sadly, awakened as sunlight dries morning dew.
I've unfinished work because of your splendor.
Dear glowing moon, to you my heart I'd surrender.
If from my window I could ask you for a dance,
I would become a star in hopes we'd find romance.
Alas, I fear my wishes shall never come to fruition
and if it were possible, would you give permission?
When I see you rising, this room becomes a cage,
and I a lonely bird, an idle poet staring at a blank page.
If only I could escape my plight and take you as a lover,
I'd come to you when outside my window you hover.
