Stunning silver moon of lambent light I see, each night you listen to my fervent plea... You must wonder when will my sorrow end. On your indulgent patience I've come to depend. I watch as shadowed clouds veil your eyes, as if you play hide and seek, wearing a disguise. Often, I fall asleep, dreaming of flying to you, sadly, awakened as sunlight dries morning dew. I've unfinished work because of your splendor. Dear glowing moon, to you my heart I'd surrender. If from my window I could ask you for a dance, I would become a star in hopes we'd find romance. Alas, I fear my wishes shall never come to fruition and if it were possible, would you give permission? When I see you rising, this room becomes a cage, and I a lonely bird, an idle poet staring at a blank page. If only I could escape my plight and take you as a lover, I'd come to you when outside my window you hover.

Beautiful, Lin. I truly enjoy a full moon, (I don’t howl at it… promise) but never considered that I might love it. Your words make me realise how much I would hate for it to be ‘gone’. I guess we all love that light in the night. A truly smashing write. Terry

Thank you, Terry for your beautiful comments. I appreciate you for your thoughts. What a catastrophic situation we'd have is not for the moon and her powers.

Moon magic has flowed out of your pen to create this gem, so captivating, full of the mystery and allure of this celestial body. Has that tension of the lover waiting for fulfilment, near but just out of reach. You have captured a mood that speaks of the deep, almost spiritual, connection we have with the moon, resonates with our ancestral soul.

Outstanding poem, beautifully crafted with mesmerizing words and images. The moon has always captivated my spirit, and you captured how I feel about the moon, especially in the 1st verse. I sometime awaken in the middle of the night and stare at the moon. It hears my woes and pleas. I especially liked "When I see you rising, this room becomes a cage, and I a lonely bird, an idle poet staring at a blank page. Such poignant words. Am faving this one, have a blessed evening, hugs, Sara

Thank you for your thoughts on the moon, Sara. Sometimes, when I wake so early as I usually do, I stare at the moon and wonder about all sorts of things. It's personal, isn't it? I value your comments and friendship.

Very romantic Lin, I’ve got to say the moon does hold a certain magnetism over mere mortals when they get a moment alone with it, and you seem to have found something very attractive here and I’m not talking gravity lol! maybe there is a man in the moon after all, enamouring penning, cheers David

Ya know what I find peculiar? There's always been poems and songs written about the man in the moon, but I've always thought of the moon as a female and the sun as a male. I've written poetry about them being time crossed lovers as opposed to being star-crossed. Luna is regaled amid starlight, but Ra, the masculine of the two has more strength. Thank you, David for your continued reading and reviews of my writing.
