Silent Prayer
A silent prayer each early morn
as I'm lying in my bed,
A prayer that God will help me
as I struggle through my day.
When I was little, Mama taught me,
God had angels by my side,
who would fold their wings around me,
as I tried hard to be good.
In school, I turned to Him,
as I sent a silent prayer before each test,
that no unknown word would be included
and that I'd studied all the rest.
I made A's on my test papers
and won the spelling bee,
and knew that God was listening
and the angels were still near.
I have lived a long, long time since then
and I have had my share of woe.
I have lost so many friends
and all of my original family,
but I have learned to trust my God
and know He will be there
to help me through my troubles
and the wings of His angels still hold me.
