Silence Is Not Golden

Along with Church and State
it is increasingly obvious
that Education must share
the same taboo (Ignorance
planted in fertile minds
will grow, and in short time
such evil will show throughout
a culture and its government)

Youth has no voice
other than those it is given--
easy prey for a Union
of Educators who have
lost all Moral Compass
and Honorable Spiritual 
directives, while the good 
teachers remain silent
to a fault….

As a part time teacher of teenagers in the latter, post retirement phase of my life, I have had great enjoyment in my interactions with them; but recognise that most are a relatively blank page that can be (and are) perverted with false values with which they sometimes claim (with encouragement) more wisdom than their elders. One might ask them: ‘When did you stop learning?’

Panagiota Romios May 5, 2019 at 2:46 AM Higher pay does not include God in the contract. Teachers better not say God in class. As a teacher, I worked two jobs both in SF and Chicago. Nothing new. Honestly, one has to be a plastic surgeon to earn big bucks of technology. We have to choose professions wisely. Degrees are a dime a dozen. Panagiota Joseph P. For years I ran a non-profit during the day (no pay), working nights to support myself (not a lot of sleep)--I have no regrets. Thank you. Bless you.

Connie Marcum Wong March 20, 2019 at 10:58 PM Undervalued teachers who are paid too little has the best teachers looking for better pay as they can not live on the little they are paid. I agree Joe. : ) Joseph P. DiMino March 21, 2019 at 10:23 AM Hi Connie; for sure I do not thing one can pay teachers enough for the impact they have, positive and negative, on our society. In Arizona, where I am, the average High School teacher earns about 48,000 a year with very good medical and other benefits. What I object to is the new trend to make students political activists, and the push to lower the voting age--this is very wrong in my opinion. That is not what I want my taxes to go for.
