Sign of the Cross
SIGN OF THE CROSS
In the name of the Father — of lights,
and the Son — who crossed the great divide,
and the Holy Spirit — of wisdom and comfort.
One God — all present — throughout time and creation
In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God
and the Word was God
Why are we surprised that GOD of all the Universe,
who made us from scratch, gave us minds to ponder,
filled us with thoughts of relationship,
would give us power, and when stolen
immediately devises a plan
to get us back
so he can walk with us in the cool of the day.
Since HE saw we must suffer, he suffered.
But in the end the greatest restoration
of all things…
Shall you open up your eyes now.
See the scars...see them anew.
Can you visualize?
Hear the pounding of nails as if it was you?
Feel the tearing of flesh, blood oozing dark red.
All the wounds aching from the beating...
Feel the thorny crown being driven into your head,
the lack of oxygen as you hang while all mankind stares,
mocking, laughing...
as you stretch out your arms and love them all the more
knowing their existence counts on you.
You stare in disbelief,
Denying until the cock crows three times.
Throw yourself at eternity’s feet,
Warm yourself in his eyes.
Step over the line —
Then shall a witness be made.
The truth on fire ~
The burning bush ~
A holy place ~
You were lost
But now you’ve found grace.
Repent! Repent! He’ll lead you home!
