Sight Dog Abuse

I was in a cafe the other day when a young woman came in, with a seeing eye dog, she sat down close to where I was; and I could not help but hear her talking to her dog, in a loud and hateful way and then she hit him with the leash. I was shocked and thought maybe the dog did something. but she continued to hit him on the nose several times; as an animal lover I was seething and could not stand it, so I said to her, "STOP hitting your dog or I call the police!" She responded, "mind your own business lady!" so, I did call the police because I hated what was happening; you would think she would be thankful to have this gift. of a seeing eye dog . . . I hope the dog is taken away from her. ________________________________ May 23, 2019 Poetry/Verse/Sight Dog Abuse Copyright Protected, ID 19-1146-449-02 All Rights Reserved. Written under Pseudonym.

G'day Dear Heart … a sad tale of abuse. All I have ever found with dogs is unconditional love and devotion. Pleased you reported her - Lindsay

Good for you they should take the dog away nothing is worse than being cruel to an animal or child they are so innocent.

Michael, thanks for reading my poem, I am pretty sure the police will contact the right people, these dogs don't belong the person. I wanted to just hug that dog !

Joseph, thanks for visiting, oh she was so mean to that dog, and he looked so afraid, it was so wrong, maybe she has mental problems too, but she should not have a service dog if she treats it that way.

I feel this way when Moms threaten to hit their kids in Walmart. So glad you did something and maybe it will ultimately help her as well as the dog. So sad. Cruelty is always so sad. Glad you shared the feel poetically and I hope this poem guides someone to new levels of rightful thinking. Oh, leash not lease, right? Keep righting those wrongs, girl! Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I agree animal abuse is awful and some people should never have animals as pets or service animals, great poem!

Tania, I do not understand why people get pets then abuse them, that's pretty low and to make a beautiful service dog cower, I saw red. Thankfully the police did come, here in my city animal abuse is against the law and I was not the only person who saw it happening. Thanks for visiting my poem and commenting.

I'm glad you said something. We become complicit with our silence. Have a great day.

David, thanks for reading my poem. At first I was going to say nothing, mind my own business, but I looked into that dogs eyes and saw sadness and I could not keep quiet, I wish more people would speak up when they see abuse of animals, kids, women, all people !
