Shroud Of Dusk

sun in shadows late at dusk
through my city's fall on me
from skies and within windows
perhaps as the dark would be*
where some streetlight will survive
this unrelenting day's search
for moving and for standstill

I love the twinklings of light in the darkened streets.

There’s something very cinematic about this, sunlight breaking through shadows, then fading into streetlights. It captures that in-between moment of dusk really beautifully. I can feel the melancholy.... You have developed into a very good poet... have come a long way and you should be very proud of yourself... keep on writing my friend... Blessings..

Lovely visceral description of dusk as shroud : I feel the light and shadows. Good last line & catchy title. Best for contest, Sweets.xxx. (Happy to see you entering a contest)

Paige, so wonderfully descriptive of twilight in the city! You are so observant! I enjoyed this poem as dusk in the city is a favorite time of day for me and reminds me of the song "When the lights go down in the city." Best wishes for the contest. Blessings!

With the fall of dusk, sun will be shadowed and streetlights will begin to blink. Well written dear Paige. All the best.
