Show Me God

Look very carefully into yourself For God is living within your being, Her gentle voice in every humble sigh Consider a reflection of her in yon sky In your spirit of love is her true essence. Then, riding with the surf to the shoreline, In a rush of wind out of somewhere, Dipping beneath a red-glowing horizon, God is here, too, one and the same. The brush of her warm, loving hand, Affirming your achievement of note. Wherever joy gushes and bubbles Whenever peace comes from troubles, God is rarely found on a bookshelf So, look very carefully into yourself.

It's lovely that you personified God as the female. I believe God is female, male~everything. Beautiful poem, Milton.

I do, too, Ann, but I think we dishonor the role of woman when we constantly speak of God as "He." I really don't believe God is either "he" or "she." God is genderless. God is the Creator of everything. God is that which we can think of nothing greater. And that concept of God resides deep within our hearts, minds, and souls.

Indeed, God in-dwells our being, in the heart centre. It seems you have discovered the divine feminine, as the kinetic aspect of God-energy. Thanks for sharing, Milton, congrats on your win!

I discovered that long, long ago, Unseeking Seeker. I just moved away from the conventional way of addressing God as "He" in this poem. It was not a new concept for me. Thanks for your contest. I really enjoyed participating.

I agree Milton, man or woman makes no difference if you find god it will have all of our attributes, a wonderful spiritual poem with natural imagery, all the best for contest, cheers David

If God is a woman I’m in big trouble. Just kidding. Would explain a lot though. Good luck in your contest.

Thank you, Craig. Well, actually, it doesn't matter one way or the other for God loves you just the same, whether she is a He or he is a She.

Wow! Very moving. I noticed you used Her instead of the He. Nice. Very close to my feelings on God. Powerful work my friend!

Hi Jehiel, God has no gender as far as I'm concerned, and I feel we do a disservice to women when we consistently use the male pronoun. Some will agree; others will disagree. So be it!
