Shopping For Rubies

I spent my day shopping for rubies
in a five and ten cents store
expecting crimson jewels
and wanting them even the more.
Sometimes things of great worth
like people, rubies and gold
can get covered in the dust
and their value is not told.
Why would I think such a dear gem
would come in that cheap place
instead of looking for value
in an elegant state of grace.
I spent my day shopping for rubies
in a cultured jewelry store.
These delicate high-class stones
I fear I could only adore.
