She's Like the Moon

I'm not good at moon guessing, but God created many a blessing; and the moon is just one of them. I'm neither scholar nor theologian, but I observed that God made the heavenly bodies, making no mention of gender. The words 'male and female' occur when God made Adam and Eve. No, there's nothing really 'gender' about the moon, but there's something about it that speaks of Christianity. Christ, like the sun, shines His light of salvation onto us, and we in turn, reflectingly, shine the light of Christ onto others.* "Let your light shine before men that they may see...." Matt 5:16. I suggest that any appearance of gender surrounding the moon or any of the stary host is purely incidental. They are objects. However, the idea itself is intriguing to me. Some women are called 'Sunshine'. My preference for my lady would be 'Moon light'; one who lights up the night. I suspect there are a myriad of cases that a lady was called upon to chill her heated husband. He, a burning torch; and she deflects the flame. Were I forced to make the call, the moon is female. Different cultures vary with the genders. In some cultures, the sun is male; moon is female. Personally, I think the moon is much too beautiful to be a male. And like a lady, it has a soothing and graciously calming presence. In Genesis, God calls it 'a lesser light'. It wasn't created to produce light, and It doesn't have to be a light to give light. It's a dispenser, receiver, receptor, reflector. It receives light to give and transports it. It shines bright like a female with no need to dominate. We are told that the moon's gravitational pull slows down the Earth’s rotation, in a phenomenon known as "tidal braking" **. The moon casts rays of hope on the darkest nights. It takes pride in influencing the ocean tides, much like a mother impacts the rise or fall of her children. It doesn't burn you up; it soothes you down at night. I feel her reassuring heart. She's like the moon, I tell you. 080221PSCtest, Is The Moon Male Or Female Or Both. Chantelle Cooke *"Let your light shine before men that they may see...."
