It's shadowed in darkness, growling like a hound Creeping about, whispering as it slithers around Begging for attention, for it desires to be found Silence is loud when its echoes continually resound Behold, it comes masked, disguised in these places Preying on the gullible ones with innocent faces Cajoling as a lover would to gain their good graces Offering false humility with arms of frigid embraces Silence cries out with a stench breath for adoration Quietly seducing the naive with phrases of flirtation Long ago, spawned to be the wielder of denigration Contrived as a stealth mute, soused on pride's libation Writes with ink splotches, dripped from a toxic tongue Its poetry is deceiving, lyrics not meant to be sung In darkness, it leaks toxins with the scent of dung Disguised as a pacifist, but its bile words are flung Silence, speak what you should be wanting to say then fade back into the shadows where you often play Your acrimony doesn't fool the many you did betray Sheath your querulous pen, for it leads people astray

Its poetry is deceiving, lyrics not meant to be sung… Silence is loud when its echoes continually resound…lots to say on this subject!

Thank you, Jan. Solidarity is seldom found anywhere, but I’ve always written that although opinions differ on the site, there should be unity in being respectful in comments.

Hey you’re right Lin just spell it out instead of creeping around with a hidden agenda, I think the really sad part is people know who you’re talking about but are afraid to speak up or tackle them, this is a brilliant poem in its own right by the way, cheers David

I try. ;-) If the elephants grow any larger they won’t fit in the room. They feed on their own ego, so I say, “Let’s throw them peanuts!”

Elephants in the room, uh-uh no way Lin, they’ll just keep growing, expose the beasts at every opportunity! well you do anyway in your own inimitable way!

And therein lies the problem, David. Remaining silent when exposure is the cure for the problem. This scenario could pertain to many facets in life, about a plethora of issues. Thank you for your time of reading and leaving your thoughts.

Thanks Lin. I think I know who you are talking about. Honesty becomes difficult when the attention itself becomes the goal. I wonder if others will see it the same way. You are exceptional!!

It's not so much a 'who' as it is why. Thanks for the read and kind comments, Duke.

This BOLD poem really accentuates the title which by the way increased my vocabulary. This site has forced me to buy numerous dictionaries. Thanks for sharing. Fantastic!

Hi, Benjamin. I'm pleased to have written a poem that had you opening the pages of a dictionary, or perhaps googling a word? We never stop learning. I'm glad you found these lines bold. A statement is being made, so I emboldened the type. lol Thank you for such a complimentary review.

Sometimes, things just need to be said. Neglected, they continue to run rampant and roughshod. If there is something conceived as disconcertingly wrong, remaining silent does not eliminate the problem. Thank for the thoughts and the face, Tom.
