She gathered roses

~ She gathered roses, one at a time, choosing carefully, for you see, they were her healing A light breeze tickled her hair as a brief smile curved upon her soft lips The sun, bright on this day was a welcome diversion from the clouds that followed in her mind Life was green in this meadow and she enjoyed the green as it flowed as far as her eyes could see, snipping yet another pink rose Not everything was beautiful in her world but the roses spoke to her, delicate whispers telling her she was special and that even a thorn drawing blood could feel good once the pain had subsided She had touched many thorns in her life, the scars though faded still decorated her in guilt A butterfly caught her glimpse, wings of black and blue, once her colors, now another slice of nature’s wonder This butterfly was her and she knew it, free to move about the petals as she pleased Happily greeting each bloom, caressing the textures within the safety of her garden She gathered roses, one at a time, choosing carefully for you see they were her… healing ~ 8/21/19 For the: Wow Me Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Nina Parmenter

I see you got POTD, WAY TO GO. I was wondering if this were the one also for Eleanor Rigby. You did not say the title of that one. I will look around a bit to see~! And I am wondering if you won Nina's contest with this. If you didn't, then I can understand why mind did not have a chance in hell!

Well count me WOWED Chris!!! Having her identify with the black and blue in these lines "A butterfly caught her glimpse, wings of black and blue, once her colors, now another slice of nature’s wonder" was simply brilliant and very moving Chris. So many woman are battered and in fear of their life if they leave. This incredible poem is going into my Faves! I love the entire poem and it is so deserving of POTD! Congratulations my friend. xxoo : )

Thank you so very much Connie. You are the first one to understand the black and blue aspect of this piece. (or the first one to mention it) Thank you so much for that. I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment

I got chills reading this, Chris, especially the part where you describe the good feeling that comes after the cut of a thorn heals. Quite profound! And I think we can see our loved ones in butterflies and other animals. When this happens, I think we're reaching out to them. You surely created the "Wow" factor and I think Nina will love your entry. Winning wishes for you. Hugs, Carolyn

Petals of Pink! There is something mesmerizing about such a color. Perhaps, because it is a favorite of mine. "She gathered roses" as it made her feel special. She is amazing!!! Because of her heart. This is beautiful and tender, all at the same time. Congratulations Chris, on Poem of the Day. ~ Brandy
