Sharing the King
When the king gets here we will try to remain calm.
Okay.
We will not hover.
Okay.
We will share him.
The car stops. The king is here.
His mommy releases him from his car seat.
My husband tries to lure him into the house
to watch TV.
I silently smirk.
The child has been latched into a car
for 47 minutes watching TV.
The king hesitates.
He wants to please grandpa, but….
I grab up the king,
and race to the back yard with him, to the play yard
With swings, and slides, and a fort, and a sand pile.
Sharing the king is not what I do best.
