Shared Dreams

I watch a shadow
run me down,
as it gets closer
my breathing
slows

no death in dark garb
but malice,
intent on grinding
my bones into
the grain

of my nightmare,

when I wake
no more, he will
step back
from the shadow
and live again

while ever I breathe,
he will hate on hate
having to share
the same planet

with someone
who is a waste,
of perfectly good space
between his eyes,

he will never get me out
as I am ingrained
in his nightmare,

he dwells
in all of mine

Get a nightlight and sleep with it always on. I like the integration of images and the flow of the poem. Great job! Joseph

Frightening images and a deep sense of betrayed love fill this excellent poem, Jane. Sharing a nightmare with this dark person must be terrifying. You create quite an intense mood! Love, Carolyn
