Shadow and Light
Shadow and light
Playful companions
Dart amidst the foliage
Suddenly opening vistas
Just as quickly closing them
Leaving me in wondering delight
Shadow and light
Heart, body and mind
Bound to one another
Always following
One to the other
Shadow and light
My view is constrained
Like night and day
Sometimes there is only darkness
Other times there is only sunlight
Each contains the other’s seed
Shadow and light
Emotions bubble to the surface
Admitting views
Of the shady self within
In the midst of joy
The shadow appears
Omnipresent
Sometimes trailing behind
Often dancing sideways
Or leading, shoving, moving ahead
Shadow and light
Stumble forward, my friend
Have faith in the universe’s plan
Though your vision is spotty
There is no cause for alarm
As day follows night
The light will reappear
Reawakening the joy
