Shades of Blue

As dawn’s first light appears in eastern skies and paints the heaven’s dome in hues of pink, I open sleepy eyes and realize ‘twas but a dream and life is out of sync. Alone I lay upon this king size bed where we would share our passions in the night, and cuddle as we slumbered under spread, but now these frigid sheets without delight. In Autumn’s chill the heavens beckoned you, and angels came to usher you away; now here behind I’m left in shades of blue, and seemingly alone in life’s decay. The sadness from my eye rolls down my face, and leaves a stain that time cannot erase. February 5, 2019
