Shelter Me, Lord
Lamenting over failure-caused anguish
Feeling doomed by pride’s weakness, I languish…
Lord, my gloomy aura, You extinguish
Shelter* me with love soul can distinguish.
Beneath the shade of grief’s weeping willow
Midst hurts, ten times worst, wherein I wallow
Your pill of comfort I seek to swallow
While I supine upon faith-trust’s pillow.
Your sheltering love is my great buttress
Shielding me against guilt-sickness’ distress
Surpassing idyllic haven’s mattress
Anchored upon truth of Eden’s fortress.
Lord, You’re my wise Adviser, omniscient
Great Counselor with prudence, efficient
Not incidental, timely proficient
You shelter me with comfort … sufficient.
*Psalm 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
