Servant Heart

Servant Heart

O Lord, I know my need for you
For your grace like fresh borning dews
Your ready handmaid, scarred and flawed,
Servant to the servants of God.

You gift me music, ministry,
Writing rhymes from soul felt pleas,
To walk the rough roads you have trod,
Servant to the servants of God.

Let me be less, Lord, you be more,
This my prayer – this I implore –
A servant’s heart, humbled and awed,
Servant to the servants of God

This poem is a blessing, if only everyone had a servants heart, life would be very different. Well done Sam!

Hi John! Thank you so much! I agree! Oh that every heart would grab onto the concept of serving rather than being served. We would have a very different world - a world that finds the true meaning of joy in service. The idea of having a servant's heart has always resonated with me. It was a joy to share this lifelong belief in this poem. Sending you blessings of joy and gratitude!!

Linda, I am deeply humbled that these words resonated so deeply in you! Thank you. After struggling a little with what to write when I chose "servant to the servants of God" everything fell into place. From the start these words have been the guiding force of my music ministry and brought me incredible joy. I am so happy that joy came through this poem. Sending you blessings from one servant heart to another!

Thank you so much Laura. Your feedback and gracious words mean so much to me. I am deeply grateful I wondered what to write when the words of the mission for my ministry came to me and everything fell into place. Funny how that happens! Sending you blessings from one servant heart to another!

Humility at its best ! "....at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth"! We are servants of our Lord and if we really feel so, He will exalt us above many a man. Sam, you are a poet, a choirister and one leading a ministry. All these are gifts from God and you have a thankful heart. A Beautiful hymn.

Dearest Valsa, I am humbled and honored by your beautiful and gracious words. Thank you! Years ago I found in the time of the Psalms that lowliness meant knowing your need for God. That forever changed my attitude and life. It is a beautiful gift to be a servant to the servants of God in so many ways - to be under the mission of God - to be charged with building the kingdom! It is such a blessing to share that ministry with you, fellow pilgrim in this ministry of words! Sending bunches of blessings, grace and peace dear friend!

Sam, your wonderful, stirring prayer reminds me of Rev. Martin Luther King's famous words. "Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve." This is a fave, my friend.

Evelyn, I am beyond honored by your beautiful feedback and your fav! That this would remind you of Martin Luther King leaves me speechless, and you know how often that happens! Thank you does not adequately express my gratitude for your gracious feedback. Funny, I wasn't quite sure what to write but then, it seems, heavenly inspiration took my pen and wrote these words that express the expressed vision of my ministry. So grateful for your message today. It truly touched my heart. Blessings to you dear friend!

Emotional and heartwarming piece Sam. A heartfelt prayer of being a servant. Such a humbling true understanding of our Lords wishes for all of mankind. You have captured here my friend. This one is a favorite Sam. May our Lord richly bless you for your giving spirit and your servitude toward others...

Thank you so much my friend! What a miracle it would be if every person on earth had a servant heart. I am so honored by your gracious words and your fav! Often when leading a retreat I talk about "submission" as being under the mission of God with God as our general and we God's first lieutenants. Certainly takes the sting out of that word and, I think, puts us in a place of looking to God for the answers - the best answers - of course!!! This a-ha changed my life and I love sharing its blessings! So grateful for your blessings. Sending you blessings of joy!
