September Song
The wheels of twilight spin sunset hues upon the sea
And shadows fall where summer used to be
The flights have ceased, and many will now flee
As September steals the wings that flutter free
She will play a tune upon each leaf
Their dance, alas, is all too brief
Summer's kiss was just a passing bloom
Autumn fashions the sky with gloom
She'll cast her spell where summer meets the sun
And thus enchanted, the sun will slowly fade
Soon the leaves will be undone
And she'll wave her wand upon the glade
But her many colors are a promise kept
Her winsome whispers we must accept
And as she flows into the midnight sky
We'll rise at dawn, to bid sweet summer, goodbye.
