Selfish Thoughts
You were mine,
and I was yours.
At least…
I thought that
behind closed doors.
I dreamt of you —
of what it might be
if my thoughts were real,
if you felt the same.
Why can’t you see
that you and I
were meant to be?
We never fought.
Never lied.
It all felt right.
I was broken
long before I met you —
shattered to pieces,
unreachable.
But you,
you looked at me like I was whole.
You believed I could be more.
Now I’m not so sure.
Was I wrong about us?
Was I just in love
with the way you made me feel?
Selfish thoughts I can’t escape…
But maybe —
just maybe —
this was something great.
