Self help: Not Today
Anxiety dressed in shades of blue,
Dressed in a rapid heart beat,
Shook my hand, my arm and chest,
Shook me down to my feet,
And the mirror asked quick,
“Are you going to die- are you losing your mind?”
The mirror revealed what couldn’t be seen,
Turmoil that was clubbing inside,
So I said hell no, not today my friend,
I’ll defeat you by living in now,
Goodbye to caffeine and restless dark nights,
I’ll proudly go walking down town,
This morning I woke from weeks in the dark,
Weeks where I’d rather have died,
And walked out the door after shaking his hand,
Leaving my anxious behind.
