Selbstverbannung

Whispering caresses testify    under duress with somber    adoration. How many sonnets have I    forgotten    while tracing the    contours of your shape? Your slick fragrance disarms my    resolve; I yearn to    bottle such essence if only to keep a suggestion of    us in the face of certain    obliteration. For once the skitter and    the titter consume with    fangs of speculation, we    shall doubt what we’ve begun    in earnest    under the moon, the trust of synchronized    pulses seeking    harmony, and the explosive    thrill of shared    desire until nothing    remains.

Such powerful emotion, brilliantly expressed with compelling phrasing. Who could resist such a title?? (I shall have to look it up!) Well done John!! Best wishes, Keith

This is great. Like others I find the second stanza to be very powerful. But the overall impact of the poem works wonders. I don't think it is necessary to know the meaning (er, I'm not sure that you have spelt it right, I think it should be Selbstverbrennung: to do with self burning?) of the word to appreciate the beauty of this poem. That is down to the language of the piece. the layout of the narrative is very imaginative and makes for a great reading.

Wow, thanks for the comments! The name "Selbstverbannung" means "self banishment" in German. You guys are a fun family! Warm regards, John.

A masterpiece of pure passion, I am lusting after every verse. A dexterious display of poetic talent, the title must be meaning something special, what is it? Love, L'nass
