Seize the Day

Some chances, come once in a lifetime
It is important to seize the day
If you don't you'll be filled with regret
As you watch goodfortune go away

Yes it's true, hindsights twenty twenty
If only you had taken that chance
When it comes to luck you make your own
Stop waiting, just take part in the dance

If you don't strike while the iron's hot
You won't be able to change its shape
Superman, couldn't rescue the girl
If he was afraid to put on his cape

Taking chances is not so easy
It often requires nerves of steel
When in the end you receive your prize
You will be glad that you spun the wheel

Then you can say remember that time
I am so glad that I seized that day
Who would have thought, life could be so good
I am so glad it turned out this way

Seize the Day Free verse

Will your lifetime pass
Along with your chances
Days lost not seized
Abandoned to the sands of time
Left to sit in a pool of regret

Don't look back with twenty twenty vision
To the time you were so blind
Don't let good fortune be a fleeting guest
She wants to sit at your table
She says come to me
Dance with me
Seize the day

Pour her a glass of wine
Seduce her
Take her in your arms
Lay her on your bed
Make her want to stay
Lesser men will turn away

Don your cape
Be the Superhero
Spin the wheel
Rewrite the future
Claim your prize
Make your dreams reality
Luck does favor the bold

One day
You can look back and remember
You seized the day
Your life was fully lived
Regrets few
You can choose to be full
Content
Satisfied
Thankful
Proof that dreams do come true

I do like the free verse version better. It is an interesting exercise taking a rhymed poem to free verse as each arises from a different method of investigation. I will share this amazing quote I found soon on a blog...so keep watching. Definitely want to congratulate you for both of these poems. SuZ

Both were great in their own ways. I often find it hard to differentiate between prose poetry and free-verse. Nonetheless the message was clear in both. Seize the day and take a chance. Easier said than done, but well worth the effort.

If it was so easy it wouldn't be so rewarding.
