Notes About The Poem

Seems Like Yesterday, Mystic
When my mind wanders to the night we met,
I see you standing, trembling heart, a silent grace
Murmuring softly, the story I’ll never forget
Your love fell over me, my spirit wrapped in your embrace
Beyond the salty sea, beyond the cobalt skies
I see the gentlest prayer, spoken by a heart in need
My soul is relieved to see you, look into your eyes
Knowing that I’ll always believe we will succeed
When my life feels lost in the wind, blowing away
The music playing soft, gently revealing my praise
I remember the joy that comes, joy that will stay
Love that lingers and never leaves, love to amaze
I know you don’t understand how much you mean to me
You don’t realize how your heart touched my own,
How much I love you – how my soul will forever be
A part of you, a piece of the life, oh, how we’ve grown!
When I forget to praise the One who wrote our story
I remember, He is alive inside and offering hope
So that I never need to fear, He’s coming in full glory
Revealing the wonder that tells my spirit I can cope
I remember seeing you that first night together
When love first brought us the wonder of forever
We can make it through any storm, any weather
Sure that He will keep us, reminding we’re a whosoever
Whosoever believes, He promises to save from hell
Saving us from the darkness that comes to kill
Promising us there is hope that we will forever be well
Assured of heaven above – this is surely God’s will
I won’t forget the joy we’ve known, the love
That comes from all we’ve shared, our life
As we overcome and reach our home above
Because we know the One who ends all strife
Let me ask you, my beloved husband, my friend
Will you make sure to keep praying for healing
So that there is a hope that this cancer is not the end
And, most of all, that we’ll always share this feeling…
A feeling that came when we first met
A feeling that will last, beyond disease
A feeling that He gave, - I’ll not forget
This feeling we share as we fall to our knees!
