Notes About The Poem

Seeking Wisdom

My teacher did not illuminate me with facts about this world. Rather he/she led me, lovingly, to know who I am, and showed me how to learn.
Encouraging students to seek knowledge and truth for ourselves is the only lesson that is never finished. When one stops learning, one stops growing.
For we are a complicated machine, humans. We have a physical body, a soul which resides in the heart and mind…our essential selves, and a spirit.
A true teacher will touch the whole of who we are…guiding us to seek wisdom.

Hi Crystol, perfectly agree with your concept of a good teacher. "Encouraging students to seek knowledge and truth for ourselves is the only lesson that is never finished. When one stops learning, one stops growing." Yes, a teacher has to encourage and help the student to discover his own hidden potential. I had such a teacher and he remains my favorite.
