Life extension and rejuvenation a process aimed at stretching life on earth; It could become the foremost quest from birth. But, when age succumbs to curbed duration concepts tested by acute frustration... then fragile straws are clutched for all they’re worth as long as in this world one finds a berth. Thus, plan ‘B’ is launched: reincarnation. Is life perpetual fruit of false desire, such as finding the philosopher’s stone, latched to the wild allure of wind and fire? An afterlife assures a lasting zone where faithful ones eternal joy acquire beside the Lord on His celestial throne. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This Italian Sonnet consists of an octave with the rhyme pattern abbaabba followed by six lines with a rhyme pattern of cdcdcd. Each line is made up of 10 syllables. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Contest: Form ‘I’ ~ Immortal Theme Sponsor: Broken Wings Placed 1st © 1st March 2017

We are all free to choose our ways of reasoning and believing, Phil. May we all find the right paths to eternal happiness. Thank you for reading, commenting and liking. Regards // paul

This is great. Plan "B" without trusting God is fruitless and time wasted. Paul, your pen is thoughtful. Best poem!

Wow.. this is great. Genetically speaking we are all immortal .... According to Chemistry and Lavoisier our particles existed from the beginning. Something to think about. I really enjoyed this poem. Thank you Paul.

I agree with your beautiful poem, Paul, people believe in so many plan B's, but find it hard to trust the eternal true God, a 7:)

The imagery that is presented carries the essence of the statement the author is making, and it is a powerful one. Your words speak with a introspective voice supplying the catalyst that sparks further thought. Emile.

This is lovely.. my favorite verse, "then fragile straws are clutched for all they’re worth" ... yes.. and all the false beliefs give false hope... This poem provides a perfect message for everyone looking for the answer. Very nice, Paul, and a fav for me.

Much to ponder, dear. I believer immortality is gifted to the believers at the second coming of Christ. How does one get this eternal life? "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." I John 5: 12 Many may think that is a simplistic view, but it's what I believe. I have missed you, dear one.
