I choose to dwell in the clouds contest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a quiet moment, as the sea touched the shore
with gentle colors of hope, promises
intent to offer the sun who seeks to end heart’s grief
on a silent thought, as the scent of pine and moss
covered the edges of a dancing forest
where trees would embrace the soul with grace
on a mist from the mountain’s high, reflecting peace
lost amid the sense of heaven’s sigh
belonging to the light who will forever abide
on the music, playing like a dream who warms the night
falling over the earth, dew drenched autumn smiles
gentling the songs of a stillness who restores the spirit
on the dawn’s breath, where winter silences the story
bruising the colors of a rainbow murmur, intimate
as the beauty of a life who knows the muse will flow
on the poet’s anxious pen, words are famished souls
resting on the edge of a note, guitar string’s rhythm
trembling like a prayer who is breathing its pleading
on a still life, beneath the soundless roar, so discreet
blowing like leaves who dance with the serenity
pouring from autumn’s graceful wind, pulsing praise
on the clinging light of a prayer, fading quietly
restoring the soul’s hope for heaven’s home
beautiful peace overcomes the noise of defeat
on the lingering city street, a few tendrils of light
fade across the pavement, defeated by shadows
who reveal the heart’s need for everlasting, belief
on the twilight tales, where life is the color of grace
there comes a feeling, bleeding peace and faith
soothing away the darkness with the holiness of love
on the air, a sensation of wonder, arriving softly
resting amid the petals of rose and lily, fading
so that we can see, beyond the grief, the potential
on my way to the church pew, arising in my soul
the melody of a cross edged in truth
a cross who tells me I’m loved by God Himself
I’m loved and I can see – this love is the reason
I will always be filled with the best of intentions
because He forgives me for being the worst sinner
He forgives me for the sin that lives within me,
seeking to destroy me with its secret –
the sly, stealthy subtle depravity, that dark sin
that silences the hope within,
that leaves me feeling doomed
by the enemy who overwhelms me
with memories of the life I’ve lived,
the sins that have plagued me, again and again,
the doubts that leave me hesitant to believe
the One who saves has truly saved me!
Oh, dear Jesus, I’m so very grateful!!!
