Notes About The Poem

Secret Love Pantoum - Emotive Write

I always think of you on the first of May Recalling the New York Mining Disaster What a tragedy it ruined my holiday For whom the bell tolls expressed the broadcaster Recalling the New York Mining Disaster Stayin Alive would have been a miracle For whom the bell tolls expressed the broadcaster Immortality? Guess I am cynical Stayin Alive would have been a miracle My secret love died that day; now I’m alone Immortality? Guess I am cynical If I can’t have you I don’t want to go home My secret love died that day; now I’m alone Such a heartbreaker! Forbidden love so right If I can’t have you I don’t want to go home You should be dancin’ right here with me tonight Such a heartbreaker! Forbidden love so right What a tragedy it ruined my holiday You should be dancin’ right here with me tonight I always think of you on the first of May Beegees Titles used - the Beegees were prolific songwriters writing well over 900 songs for themselves and other artists The first of May New York Mining Disaster Tragedy Holiday For whom the bell tolls Stayin’ alive Immortality If I can’t have you Secret love Alone Heartbreaker Love so right You should be dancin’ Musical Pantoum Contest Sponsored by Silent One 05~30~16

I liked the early Bee Gees better. Do you remember the one with the line "I just got to get a message to you"? I think you have made a fine use of the Malaysian form. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

I too like the early stuff but Saturday Night fever was a fabulous soundtrack too - one of my fave tracks is called 'Ellan Vannin' its all about our little Island the Isle of Man where they spent their childhood years:-) hugs Jan xx

They wrote some awesome music Eileen - I love 'immortality' ... am having it played at my funeral lol. The Beegees spent some of their childhood on the Island in fact Robin had a house here up until his death in 2012

Thanks Eileen - there are so so many Bee Gees songs i could have used and several more stanzas could have been penned - may do another one on a happier theme:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Sandra - I wasn't going to even write for the contest as I thought it was quite a challenge. the Bee gees were such prolific song writers I probably could have done more stanzas but am happy with the poem as it is:-) hugs Jan xx
