This is not for any contest. I have written this poem many times over the last twenty years. Surprisingly, it always comes out the same.  The problem is, whether you get the second, or third chance, you repeat the same mistakes.

If I had a second chance, I would have erased all my past mistakes, I would have turned all my wrong decisions into the right choices, I would have changed the course of my life. If I had a second chance, I would not have been alone in this world, I would have shared more time, love, and affection with her, I would have death wait for a little longer for her. If I had a second chance, I would have shaped my personality a little better, I would have controlled my stubbornness and anger, I would have listened and respected the ideas of others. If I had a second chance, I would have reset the destiny of my life, I am repenting my past for a moment, I am wishing for an impossible second chance

Hello Jay, I could feel your words ache with the weight of reflection and longing, each line a quiet confession of humanity's frailty. I think what I loved is that it speaks to the heart of anyone who has ever wished for a do-over, leaving a lingering sense of bittersweet truth. Excellent! Winter Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Why wait for a second chance! If we have the desire to change, still there is time. Many do not wish to change. This desire to change is the first and most crucial step to change. Forgo your past and forgive yourself for the lapses made. After all, no body is perfect. We cannot change what's gone, but can control what is to come.

I see one in here that you really could not have controlled. I think we would do the same if we went back in time not remembering that we did it before. But maybe with former knowledge, we WOULD change at least a few things! I can think of a few for sure.

Reflection goes a long way, Jay. "To err is human; to forgive, divine"--Alexander Pope. Forgive yourself!
