Scrape, Lather, Repeat

I want to scrape my hands raw,
peel away the loops and whorls,
make it scarlet

Scrape it
as you would fish scales,
but bloodied

Pour antiseptic on it
Let. It. Sting.

Then wash it away,
letting it flow
               down
                   the
                        drain.
                                 .
                                   .

Let it form callouses
to numb it,

Then start anew.

Scrape. Lather. Repeat.

***
Me in a funky mood.
Written while waiting in line at a bank.
For one whole hour.
We sure were one bunch of bored people there.

Haha...funky mood for sure...;) Long lines tend to do that to ya. My hands are all calloused over, but I need em for work...ha. Whenever I take my kids camping, I always juggle hot coals and they really get a kick outta that. Don't know what that has to do with your poem....just came to mind. See ya....Painted Hunter...;)

first, I'm like...... repeating the title over and over... ((rinse lather repeat... without the thought of SCRAPE)) then i read about scraping your hands raw... OUCH!! I'm going to look up the word Funky Mood ..now... hahaha JK.. i know what you mean... glad you know how to keep the mind entertained during boring moments... I can relate to the funky mood... but, I think my poem would read... (Bite, ROB and run)... lol... you are at a Bank right.... heheh... LINDA

After one hour waiting in line to get served..I do hope the bank cashier was efficient..otherwise you would want to scrape and rub her scalp raw instead of just your hands. You explained so well the way i feel when im in traffic jem..So well i i recognize the way you were feeling..Ow gee..: ).

We all feel this way at times!!! If only we could wash away what is bothering us, like we wash our hands.......scrubbing until it is painful, sometimes is the only way to get relief......I do understand ..... but then, pamper with lotion (a metaphor......until the raw pain heals......which it will in time....:) xoxoxo

hahaha, Written while bored in a bank. Well, gosh, I think you came up with some good lines! I did a poem about being bored in the long line, while I was actually standing in that line! I LIKES this and to see you here is so great, my friend. Can you tell me if I should use a better title than Empty on my free verse for Constance? I have a different title for it, but she said to use the emotion that the poem portraysl. I was going for the fact that the senile woman is empty. Maybe I did it wrong
