Scented Leaves

What glory reigns within a stew
that has a bay leaf bold.
From a tree, this little leaf grew
a spicy story told.
Take a whiff and smell the sweet
an aromatic of the Ganges
Nice to sniff but sour to eat,
dichotomy of bay leaves.
What a wonderful job they do.
Just one will work so well.
Sometimes as insecticide too,
yes, cockroaches hate their smell.
Bay leaves, bay leaves
to swallow may cause you to choke.
It’s better to sniff than eat these
much safer for the throat.
