Scenes of My Childhood
"How sweet to the heart are the scenes of my childhood"
Samuel Woodworth, 1785-1842
I did enjoy my many childhood dreams,
and later, happily, some did come true.
When I look back in time, indeed it seems
the future turned out well- I did pursue
my artwork, writing poems- steady flings-
which as a child, these loves I always knew.
Crayons and paper were such favored things,
and when I'd reached the age of three or four,
I loved to draw and spread artistic wings.
Next, taking pen to paper was no chore;
as I grew older, by age eight or nine-
was writing poetry to make words soar!
My childhood dreams did grow to shape, refine-
honed gifts of art and words to intertwine.
