Scarlet Dark, Bold Wine

Lonelier than lonely, the walls cry out to I. I choke on sour taste as I attempt to reply. Feelings bunch up to crouch inside my throat. I want to let them loose, put them afloat. Not upon mountain peaks or in valleys low would my heartbreak know a dauntless echo. Sweet cascading, scarlet dark, bold wine, please, relieve this crimson space that is mine. My sad flesh feels emotional winds blow, reminding my heart of all I just let go. Melt me away, wine – let your fragrant taste erase all my fears and mellow me to waste.

I really enjoyed this one. I like wine on very few occasions, however, because I get sick, lol.

Expressive poem about heartbreak, Cay Cay. I remember once in 1983 when I just needed to obliterate myself for a night.

haha, the 1983 obliteration was successful. I was gone for a night. that was a long time ago, so i guess it's ok to admit it was barely noticeable when someone walked on my legs. I only mentioned that one because it kind of reminded me of what I got out of your poem...there were other times :-)

We were almost seeking oblivion at the same time, me, 1-84. WOW, no wonder you have such a genuine smile - you have only wished to obliterate yourself once in life!! I might need both hands to count such times, well, maybe just part of the 2nd one -- the left one, I think. I have midnight-giggles and silliness. Good to see you, y'all come back soon ... CayCay

Oh, Dear CayCay, this one aches in all the right places just like a word caught in the throat, like sorrow poured smooth into a glass. I could actually feel your words breathe loneliness so stark, I felt it settle beside me. Beautiful, aching, true. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Thank you for gifting me with such moving, lyrical comments. Each word you wrote excited the poet in me as though I were reading a poem of yours. So fine are your lines, I'm sure to read them several times - they got me. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Dear new friend of mine, the power of your beautiful words has captured my heart again. I read your response to Victor and the story behind this moving writ greatly saddened me. I wish only healing and happiness for you in the future. Thank you for sharing this. Be Blessed.

I'm glad you have healed, pal. I live in an urban area, but my neighbourhood is blessedly quiet. Grateful for the life I have. How about you?

It happened decades ago, so I have long healed. I still love him and the life we shared, but that chapter, in fact, the entire book, is now quite dusty. So, where do you live? Thanks for your comments, always good to see my new friend. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Don't tell me you have a waterfall...or better still a winefall. I prefer it ruby red, 12% volume, DOCG and aged. Easy to get drunk. )) Hugs.

Were you commenting on my poem while I was commenting on yours? Seems so, what are the odds? I really don't drink, but on the night I wrote about, I really wanted to be numb. I had gone across country, leaving my husband of 10 years because he was on drugs. All I valued, was gone. Have you ever missed a German Shepherd that was also family for 10 years? I still miss that dog. Yours ... CayCay (what does DOCG stand for?)
