Leave me alone in my grief, let me lock myself away. Soothing words, they give no relief because cancer it was a cruel thief, there is nothing more you can say. I want to be left on my own, where my silent tears can fall. Since he passed I feel so alone my pillow smells of his cologne, I just miss my late husband Paul. My hubbies cancer got me writing poetry, I try not to dwell on sad times and more often than not I write humourous poems to try and make other people smile:-) hugs Jan xx

Oh Anne-Lise I'm so sorry to learn about your husband's relatives i hope they get the all clear from this dreadful disease, yesterday they announced my favourite TT motorbike rider Bruce Anstey has tumours in his lungs and one on his spine - he'd had testicular cancer many years ago - who knows if he'll race again:-( hugs jan xx

Scared me till I read fiction. Sadly although not terminal, (as is) my wife is home but still suffering. Every now and then life/nature lets you know not to take things for granted... hugs Mick

Thanks Mike, i don't think there are many people who haven't been touched either directly or indirectly by cancer. If my hubby hadn't had cancer surgery i doubt I would ever have picked up my pen:-) hugs jan xx

A wonderfully written poem that I'm sure many can relate to Jan. I wanted to tell you that your remark to Leanne went to my latest poem. I left it up because I thought you might want to copy it and resend it to Leanne. : )

Yes, grief changes us especially if it's a dear husband or wife/life partner because it feels like part of us has died too...very hard to get used to as it feels like half of our own heart has disappeared. A short but excellent write. :D

WoW! Jan, You did good with the 10 words. You described the topic of solitude very well. We lost some one from the cruel disease at Christmas last year. I wish you the best of luck in the contest:( Alexis
