Sappho and Homer

Would that this poet were in Greece! Her heart enchanted on its sunlit sands. Her lover, kissing her porcelain hands. His eyes, deep, dark as Kalmata olives. The homes, white, with bright, blue tops. Her heart beating so loudly, fearing it may stop! But as the sun sets, she is far calmer. Her head on his chest, she hears its Greek beat. Then in Hellenic peace ,falls asleep to it’s melodic treat. Sappho and Homer, she felt reincarnated. To pen of love was always her deepest desire! Deceased ages ago, but love brought back her pen’s desire! Dedicated to James Thank you, dear friend! 8/31/2022

ah Sappho and Homer....you do know she was the progenitor of epic poetry before Homer...but to the poem....a melodic walk into the ambience of love...nicely executed, and how endearing the call to slumber by the lover's heart....therein is a deep recall of mother within the psyche....which every puppy well knows...the three elements of a poet, observation, inspiration, and imagination...Einstein said, imagination is superior to knowledge for a reason, it is why we have physics

Dearest Deb, You must be a true poet.))) a true poet knows that three elements are necessary in a good poem….Per Plato, in a good poem…..Beauty, Truth and Wisdom. Thank you, Hugs+ Pangie xx

You sweet thang! I love that line, too. I liked the write, in its totality. We all pen so differently! You are one of the kindest poets here. Untouched by arrogance and knowing you, a humble child of the Most High! Thank you, Pangie

Brian, how aging are your words to me, much of my poetry is a lost love, loss and passion. Human Interaction is my favorite. I have been trained to look past hostile comments. Poetry matters first. last and forever. We must go forward and ever look back. This is one of my best ever. Thank you Brian Pangiota
