SAN FRANCISCO RAIN
[V1-Night 1]
Seventh floor windows, ocean burning gold,
The Gulf of the Farallones, secrets to unfold.
Two doors beside each other, laughter in surprise,
But I felt eternity staring through your eyes.
Out on the balcony, the stars began to spin,
I leaned in like remembering where we had once been.
But you pulled back startled, as if caught in the wind,
Afraid of giving over to someone found through pen.
[C1]
San Francisco rain, falling soft and true,
Every sign the heavens sent was leading me to you.
But your heart was trembling, afraid to cross the line,
San Francisco rain — was it yours, or only mine?
[V2-Night 2]
We rode our bikes across the Golden Gate, the city fading slow,
Down into Sausalito, where only dreamers go.
I brought your favorite ice cream, the one you’d never told,
And in that simple sweetness, the universe took hold.
Dinner at Spruce, the night unfolding like a dream,
I gave you a summer gypsy dress — just like the one you’d meant to bring.
But wonder turned to silence, and doubt crept in your eyes,
You walked away in shadows, leaving me behind.
[C2]
San Francisco rain, washing hope away,
All the signs and whispers couldn’t make you stay.
I reached for forever, but it slipped through your hands,
San Francisco rain, I don’t know if you understand.
[V3]
That night you prayed for truth, “If he’s gone, what remains?”
Your favorite flower gleamed, untouched, alive, in the windowpane.
Morning broke and you walked in — the final petal fell,
And in that quiet answer, the universe began to tell.
[C3]
San Francisco rain, falling soft and clear,
All the signs and whispers finally reached your ear.
I’m gone but not lost, I’ll wait where destiny stands,
San Francisco rain, running through our hands.
[V4]
You ran next door, heart pounding, desperate to explain,
But the room was empty, and i had slipped away.
Through the city streets, you chased the fading light,
Racing to the airport, hoping to make it right.
Breathless through the gates, you finally found my face,
Time slowed in that moment, in that crowded place.
You whispered, “Now I know, I believe, I remember too.”
And lifetimes came together… in the moment I kissed you.
[C4]
San Francisco rain, dancing on our skin,
A thousand lives behind us, a new one to begin.
I whispered, “They’re playing our song… may I?”
She laughed and said, “I thought you’d never ask!”
Two soulmates spinning, smiling, laughing in the rain.
