Same Time Next Year
They brought orphans in and plied them with toys and treats.
Thinking how charitable they were being, feeling good about it.
Tables were laden with fudge, divinity, mints, cookies and other sweets.
The orphans arrived in a bunch, showing off their rare holiday whit.
They are so much fun! The sisters told people who would listen.
Shall we do it the same time next year? Sister A asked Sister B.
Venus was high in the sky, shining with cosmos-like glisten.
Count me in, she told her, as I feel younger now, you see.
